***SITE UPDATE - New tour added: Beyond Western Europe - Crete***

As we enter the 21st Century, increasing numbers of Britons are crossing the English Channel to explore and learn more about the battlefields of the First and Second World Wars. Those that make the journey do so for many reasons. Many go out of academic interest or as part of their studies at school or college. Some want to see where a relative or loved one fought and maybe died, and an ever-dwindling handful of veterans go to remember and to reflect...

www.warwalker.co.uk provides a range of services and articles of interest to the battlefield tourist or "war walker". These include photographic tours of the battlefields of north-western Europe, advice on where to go, what to see and where to stay, as well as news articles concerning recent finds and discoveries.

I have been visiting the battlefields of France, Belgium and Holland for over ten years and I am always struck by the scale of the sacrifice that our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents made. By discovering more about them and the terrible epoch in which they lived we pay them the biggest tribute we can - remembrance. If this website can play a small part in achieving that, it has fulfilled its aim.
